Welcome to Shine Malawi

We are a Local Non-Governmental Organization based in the northern part of Malawi with our head office in Mzimba District, at Mzimba Boma in one of the old District Hospital Buildings behind NBS Bank. Our organization was established in 2016 with an aim of providing care and support for orphans and vulnerable Children in the rural and poorest villages of Malawi, and to build developmental partnerships for a sustainable livelihood that will eradicate poverty within their communities.

Our Mission

To come alongside communities to help improve their lifestyles by assisting them with basic needs such as food, farming help, clothing, education, and opportunities. We seek out the impoverished widows and the children who have been orphaned or in difficult circumstances and we offer them as much support as possible to help better their future.

Making a Difference

ONE

To promote education and living standards of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) by providing school support, good nutrition, enrolment in school and access to quality education and social services on an equal basis with other children.

TWO

To increase the availability of funds necessary for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) through socio-economic empowerment of families and communities, thereby guaranteeing sustainable improvements in their lives.

THREE

To increase the level of confidence, socialization and self-esteem in orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) by strengthening psychosocial and spiritual support through family and community capacities, thereby providing a supportive environment for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC).

FOUR

To facilitate, harmonize, and strengthen the implementation of activities for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) by strengthening trust and capacity of Shine Malawi international partnership and services.

Our Goals

To ensure that orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in Malawi have access to the same services as any other child including education, nutrition, and health to improve quality of life with the long-term goal of providing these children with the ability to reach full independence within their communities by adulthood.

Our Team

Our board consists of 8 elected men and women who have backgrounds and decades of experience in education, agriculture, mental health, physical health, spiritual growth and social welfare programs. The talent of this board is like no other as they each have giftings that aid us in making good trustworthy decisions for the betterment of our kids that we assist and their communities and villages.

This week everyone is going to a very peaceful weekend after finishing all the assignments given for the week. Jossam and Sothini were In Mzimba north doing Score Card facilitation with the Ministry of Health and our partner MANASO, they have managed to train communities on how they can access medical services in their health centre that are free services with funding from Global Fund. Raphael, Jabesi his wife and Griffin were so busy practicing Agroforestry at the promised land…planting different crops that will be able to renew soil fertility at the promised land, today CSB factory staff joined them for Maize and Soya plantation, Our teachers and support staff at our secondary schools have been so committed in mentorship and teaching our children in class, I, Cecilia and Chisomo have been working on distributing farm inputs to all schools, conducting community engagement meetings, cooking demonstrations and porridge serving. Shine On Malawi Donates Baby Clothes as Mzimba South DHO Celebrates World Prematurity Day‎As the world marked World Prematurity Day on 17 November, Shine On Malawi joined the Mzimba South District Health Office (DHO) in commemorating the day by donating baby clothes to 15 premature babies admitted at the facility.‎The donation ceremony took place at Mzimba South District Hospital, where representatives from Shine On Malawi handed over bundles of warm clothing to support the care and comfort of preterm infants.‎Speaking during the event, Director of health and social services,Dr. Prince Chirwa, applauded Shine On Malawi for the timely support, noting that preterm babies require special attention.‎ “We appreciate the effort of Shine On Malawi in donating these baby clothes,” Chirwa said. “Let us continue taking care of these children because they are the nurses and presidents of the future.”‎Shine On Malawi Director, Stalin Mughandira, said the organization was proud to take part in the commemoration and praised the nurses and mothers caring for the babies.‎ “As Shine On Malawi, we are happy to celebrate with these babies. That is why we took part in this celebration, because they are the foundation of our children’s future,” Mughandira said.‎Mughandira also thanked Lilian Mackenzie from Scotland, through Banana Box for Babe Clothes, and Christian Non-Local Giving Basics Organization in the United States for donating additional T-shirts for the nurses and mothers.‎He added that Shine On Malawi remains committed to continuing its support in collaboration with the government and health facilities.‎Chirwa also commended the nurses in the neonatal ward for their dedication in caring for premature babies and for encouraging mothers during a challenging period. He urged mothers to seek medical care immediately when they notice unusual symptoms in their babies instead of waiting until conditions worsen.‎One of the mothers, Pilirani Luhanga, who recently delivered twins, expressed gratitude to the organization and other well-wishers for the donation.‎ “We don’t take this support for granted. Team work and team building is one of the strategies that Shine on Malawi staff were trained in the past 2 weeks and we have already started practicing it. This week as one of the organizations providing care and support to orphans and vulnerable children through various of activities we are working on, some staff together with village headmen and School health and nutrition leaders are in Mitongwe learning a sustainable agriculture strategies which includes Agroforestry, agriculture in God’s way. The teachers, students and staff are continuing managing St Patricia peacefully this week, Some staff are busy at the factory producing the next meals for our school feeding program and others are doing monitoring and supervision in secondary schools where our sponsored children are.This is so amazing to see and work with a such wonderful staff members. Let’s keep on Shining in a God’s way.
